If someone were to ask me why I am pro-life, I wou If someone were to ask me why I am pro-life, I would be happy to offer a long and comprehensive list of reasons founded in science and reason and personal conviction. But if you really want to know the driving force behind my passionate opinion on the subject, one need look no farther than my children—both my four year old daughter and the baby I lost two years ago.
.
I remember getting those positive pregnancy tests so vividly. I cried, because I knew even that early on that there was a new soul, a whole new person, nestled in my womb.
.
And yes, I know that at just 4 weeks pregnant, an embryo looks nothing like a human. I know that it really is hardly more than a cluster of cells. But I look at my little girl now (as she hurls the throw cushions across the living room) and I know that her life did not begin at birth, or a few months before that, or even when I took the test and knew instantly that she was loved and wanted. No, her life began days before I even had an inkling, at a precise moment unknown to anyone but God. All that was left was for her to grow and for me to eventually meet her.
.
This assumption is felt by every mother who wants her baby, and perhaps most keenly by those who miscarry. To this day I still grieve the miscarriage I had at just 5 weeks because I didn’t lose tissue, I lost a family member.
.
I believe even the mothers who don’t want to be pregnant know this... if not in their minds, then deep in their hearts and certainly in their chemistry which is rapidly adjusting for this little visitor. But the abortion industry is quick to misinform, offering half truths and vague terms because abortion is a business, and a lucrative one at that. Far too many women have been manipulated and scared into chemically or surgically removing the very life her body was designed to nourish under the guise of bodily autonomy and false compassion.
.
So, today let us pray for an end to abortion. Let us pray that ALL humans will enjoy the right to life and equal protection under the law. Yes, even the unborn.

Is it just me, or is January slipping away? These Is it just me, or is January slipping away? These short winter days don’t seem to have enough hours in them!

I painted the body of the last angel this weekend while my MIL watched the kid. There’s nothing like taking a full day to delve into a project with no distractions. Just hours of flow. 😌 The translucent blue cloth was especially interesting to paint!

It certainly makes it easier to blend when the colours are so close in range. One or two more sessions should get her done!

PS. Still working on getting my shop up. I was so busy for a few months there with orders and rebranding, I kinda burnt myself out. 😅 Hoping to get it live this week!!

Happy New Year and blessings on this Solemnity of Happy New Year and blessings on this Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God! I experienced the comfort and security of Mary as my mother in a very real way this year. I can’t tell you the number of times I cried out to her in moments of doubt or anxiety. Indeed, reflecting on the last five years since I began painting, I have come back to her again and again. I like to think it is because the Lord so delights in her, and never tires of seeing her depicted. 🥰 I am ever fascinated by the many ways God gives her to us!
.
P.S. In case you missed my last few posts and are a bit confused, this page used to be artbytispark and I officially began rebranding last night! My old shop is closed and my new shop will open in the next couple of weeks.

HEADS UP!! tiSpark is rebranding!! 🎉 🎉 🎉 HEADS UP!! tiSpark is rebranding!! 🎉 🎉 🎉

I chose the name “tiSpark” back when I didn’t know if anyone would even be interested in my work. I didn’t put a lot of thought into it, other than it matched my other two businesses—tiDesign and tiGraphy—and at the time I didn’t have a clear vision for the kind of ministry it would become.

This past year I made the leap into making and selling my art full time, a decision that God has blessed in abundance! With that leap I have found myself reconsidering my ministry name and my hopes for the coming years. One thing is for sure: people have a hard time pronouncing tiSpark (tee-spark) and I’ve heard everything from tie-spark to cheese park. 😂 I feel like that doesn’t capture who I am and the ministry that this has become.

So, after much prayer, thought, and discussion, I’m making another leap! As of January 2021, tiSpark will become Sacred Art by Tianna Williams! Here are the things that will change (if all goes smoothly):

• My Facebook and Instagram handles will change to @sacredartbytianna
• My new website will be www.sacredartbytianna.com
• Patreon will be www.patreon.com/sacredartbytianna
• YouTube and Pinterest and other platforms will be updated accordingly
• Price increases for standard photo prints and wrapped canvasses to help manage operational costs
• NEW fine art prints will be available in my shop

Your gift cards and coupons will be functional on my new website, and you will still be able to access your old account information on ti-spark.ca. My tiSpark shop will be closed permanently.

This transition might be messy so if you notice anything that needs to be updated or links that lead where they shouldn’t, feel free to let me know! I’m SO excited about this change and I hope I don’t confuse everyone too much. 😅

Look—I could be accused of many things, but overly attached to my creations is not one of them. 😆 Decided to do something completely different than what I had before. Anyways, here’s my second angel with her stylish new wings and skirt (mostly) finished. I’ll probably do a little more tweaking then I’m on to the third angel!

I got SO many requests to paint the Holy Family this year. Although I wasn’t able to paint it this fall, I was able to find a few quiet hours to make this drawing. I share it now as a limited edition greeting card on my website! I only have 100 printed so head over there quick, they won’t last long!

Five years ago I was newly married and just starti Five years ago I was newly married and just starting to dabble in painting again (they were pretty bad). I found out that I was pregnant (which was only a surprise because we didn’t think we’d have a kid, like, RIGHT AWAY, haha). Despite having virtually zero experience painting people, I took a leap of faith and painted this image to make the announcement to my husband.
.
I titled it “Unexpected”—because our daughter was kind of a surprise for me but Jesus was *definitely* a surprise for the virgin Mary. But, looking back, it means so much more than that now.
.
This painting was the literal conception of a new ministry, the image that inspired me to make more holy images. I NEVER would have guessed that, five years later, I would give up my decade-long career in graphic design so that I could make and sell art full time. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that hundreds of families around the world would want my paintings hanging in their homes. 😅
.
Yet, here I am, and I am so incredibly grateful. Thank you to everyone who chose to do their Christmas shopping with me this year, and to everyone who has supported me through their kind words, prayers, and by sharing my work with their friends and family.
.
I want to give a HUGE thank you to Fr. Aaron and Pamela and all my other Patreon supporters who have been beyond generous with me the past few years. They have been the quiet engine in the background that has helped me afford to run this ministry. I’ve made wonderful friendships with some of you, and I hope we can meet in person someday!!

After the angel departed from Mary, she would have After the angel departed from Mary, she would have had to trust that what he said was true. Perhaps she had a keen sense of the presence of God within her womb—but it wasn’t like she could go to the local pharmacy and get a pregnancy test, just to be sure.
.
What emotions filled the heart of this young woman the first night that she realized the moon had passed a full rotation? Did she, full of grace, feel only joy and wonder, knowing now with certainty that she was indeed carrying a child? Or did she feel a tremor of fear, knowing full well what happened to teenage mothers like herself? Did she have a sense of the trials yet to come—that they would live in exile, that her son would take three decades to reveal his mission, that he would suffer a cruel and humiliating death?
.
Today, the first Sunday of Advent, we are told to “keep awake”, for we don’t know at what hour Christ will return. Like Mary, we have been given a promise—we know that Emmanuel has come, we know that he rose victorious, we know that he will come again. But it doesn’t always *feel* like it. I’m sure many of us resonated with the lament of the Israelites in the first reading, who cried out for God to tear open the heavens and come down. The readings this season seem to stand in stark contrast to the gaudy decorations that mark this commercialized holiday—they are sobering, heart-wrenching even. But they ever remind us of one thing: God is faithful. From the manger to the cross and into the fullness of Heaven, God is with us.
.
This painting is Mary, waiting with the light of the world within her womb—but it is also us, keeping awake, our lamps lit even in the deepest of nights. Keep awake!

If you are not familiar with Servant of God Cather If you are not familiar with Servant of God Catherine Doherty, I highly recommend reading her autobiography, Fragments of My Life—it reads like a novel!
.
This fascinating woman has played a role in my spiritual life for as long as I can remember, from hearing stories about Madonna House to the concept of a poustina. But the thing that has helped me more than anything else has been her teachings on “the duty of the moment”.
.
Employed by my parents, no doubt, to help us kids do our chores, it has become a way of life for me, and the method by which I make many decisions. It is as simple as this: what is God’s will for me in this moment? What need or responsibility is presenting itself to me? Discern that task, then do it with love.
.
I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, a mental health disorder that is often misunderstood but can nonetheless make life exceedingly difficult. I fluctuate between obsessive hyper-focus and a complete inability to focus on anything, with some other fun bonuses like insomnia and a poor working memory. While the blessing in this disorder has been the ability to pour myself into creating art, it can, at times, make the basics of life feel impossible.
.
But, while I fail often, the thing that brings me back from complete self-destruction is knowing that there is nothing more important than the duty of the moment. It can break through an unhealthy fixation to remind me that I do still need to eat or do the dishes. It clears away the noise when I am paralyzed by a million demands, because maybe all I need to do right now is sit with my kid. Listening to God’s voice is the difference between a painting session filling my soul with joy or becoming a distraction.
.
It is a practical way to a balanced life, for sure—but I also believe it is the key to holiness. For what else is there for a saint to do but God’s will??

Yesterday I learned that all social gatherings in Yesterday I learned that all social gatherings in my province have been temporarily banned. My immediate reaction was anger, partly at what I feel to be government overreach—I’m simply not comfortable with the government telling me that we’re not allowed to gather with a few friends to pray a rosary, whatever their reasons may be.
.
But I think I’m frustrated most of all by the feeling of helplessness, unable to understand much less control the frightening events that have shaken the world this past year. There are so many different voices, so many different narratives, it feels impossible to know who to listen to and who to trust.
.
The answer, of course, is the voice of the Lord. When I felt this anger rising, I realized immediately that this was something I needed to surrender to Him. Because, frankly, whether these events are the work of a secret cabal of evil men, or simply the consequences of a world crippled by sin—there’s probably not a lot that I’m going to be able to do to change it. There is only that which was already within my power: that is, to pray, to love my family, to work, and speak a little beauty into the world.
.
I painted this image years ago with the sense that we would someday face hard times, although much of the symbolism remained veiled to me. Looking at it again, one detail jumped out that I never noticed before: the wind moving the priest’s robes is going in the opposite direction of the wind blowing in the background.
.
When things are confusing and overwhelming, the temptation is to fall into anger and despair. And I think we are seeing the panic and violence that follows... But we are not called to follow the winds of the world. God’s wind blows us towards peace—even in the midst of chaos. Because we know the battle we are fighting, and it has already been won. So, will you be ruled by fear? Or will you allow Christ to reign in your heart?
