I partnered with Fr. Josh Johnson and Ascension to create this painting of Saint Charles Lwanga. One of 22 Ugandan martyrs, St. Charles carried the wood to his own execution, seen as a glow of fire and smoke in the background. The fire at his heart symbolizes his burning love for Christ. His face—recreated from an old school photograph—shows his firm resolve to remain faithful until the end. The African-style halo reflects his Ugandan heritage.
