Foster Father

Foster Father—this title for St. Joseph which most of us are familiar with is so beautiful for several reasons. One, it affirms Jesus’ divinity, for he was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was not the biological son of St. Joseph. But it also means that St. Joseph was chosen and prepared by God to be the protector of the Holy Family. Joseph was a true father to Jesus, and they loved each other deeply.

My husband and son were the models for this drawing. Max snuggled right in, so content in his father’s arms, listening to the beat of his heart. The tenderness you see in this image is genuine.
