The famous Divine Mercy image was originally commissioned by Saint Faustina Kowalska, as directed to her by Jesus in a vision. 

The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls. (Diary 299)

I felt called to reproduce this image for a long time, and there was so much grace when I finally began to paint it. I found myself in tears more than once.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.
